Overview

The Department of Statistical Science at UCL invites applications for up to 5 PhD Studentships and 1 dedicated Studentship for the project "Causality for Healthcare AI," supervised by Professor Ricardo Silva. These positions offer exciting opportunities for research within the diverse field of Statistical Science.

About the Department

• One of the three largest Statistics groups in the UK, with over 30 academic staff members.
• Research organized into six thematic areas.
• Positions are open to both Home and International students, subject to funding caps for International applicants.

Funding Details

Each Studentship includes:

• Full tuition fee coverage for 3.5 years (or 6 years for part-time students).
• Annual maintenance stipend (£22,237 for 2024/25, with expected increases for subsequent years).
• Research training allowance.

Additional Funding for "Causality for Healthcare AI" PhD Project:

• Duration: 4 years (full-time only).
• Focus: Causal inference and machine learning with healthcare applications.

Eligibility Criteria

• A 1st class or high upper 2nd class Bachelor’s degree, or a Master’s degree with merit or distinction in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• International qualifications of an equivalent standard are also accepted.
